Intial Consultation

Congratulations, your baby(s) has finally arrived!

My goal is for Initial Consultations to take place in the families home when scheduling allows. I prioritize in-home visits for babies under a month. Follow ups or visits after a month will be scheduled for in-office as scheduling allows.

Whether this is your first time breastfeeding or you are an experienced parent facing new challenges, it is normal to have questions. Not to mention that evidence based care is constantly updating!

At your first visit, we will discuss your health history, birth experience, current concerns and goals for feeding your baby. We will work with you to find solutions and develop a feeding plan that works for you and your family.

We are here to provide support for:

  • Pain or difficulty with latch

  • Engorgement

  • You have been told you need to supplement

  • Low milk supply

  • Hyperlactation (oversupply)

  • Slow to gain weight concerns

  • Pumping and expression

  • Bottle or supplemental feeding

  • Oral function concerns

  • & many many more!

What to expect at the visit:
My goal is to witness a feeding. Please try to align our appointment time with a hungry(ish) baby. Ideally, I can witness a feed whether at the breast or bottle. I will try to perform a weighted feed (meaning I will weigh baby for a baseline, feed babe and then weigh baby again to ascertain how much was transferred during a feed). This technique can help us infer quite a bit about what is going on during a feeding session. Expect visits to last approximately 90 mins.

Follow up Visits

Follow up visits take place after an Initial visit has been established. Follow up visits will be scheduled to take place in my office. This can be scheduled anytime after an initial visit has taken place for any reason. This visit is tailored to the specific needs of the family and can include but not limited to:

  • Weight check

  • Oral function progress

  • Supply check

  • Reassess feeding plan

  • Measure milk transfer

  • Evaluate progress

  • Address new challenges that have arisen as babe grows

Prenatal Visit

Congratulations on your pregnancy! A prenatal visit is a great option if you are a first time parent or it has been a minute between pregnancies and you would like a refresher course. I believe a good prenatal visit will help you and your family be prepared and empowered for when babe arrives.

  • What to expect in the EARLY DAYS

  • How to know if you baby is getting enough

  • When to request a visit

  • Positioning and latch

  • Common challenges and how to avoid them

  • Is your baby getting enough?

    Normal newborn behavior

    Prenatal visits last approximately 1 hour with room for questions.
